The Evolution and Distribution of Fishes. Dieser Artikel ist nicht verfügbar. The Evolution and Distribution of Fishes

"The Evolution and Distribution of Fishes" is a comprehensive scientific study examining the biological origins and geographical spread of fish species across the globe. Written by John Muirhead Macfarlane, this work delves into the intricate relationship between anatomical evolution and the environmental factors that have dictated the movement of fish throughout Earth's history.

The book provides a rigorous analysis of the fossil record and the comparative anatomy of various families, tracing the development of aquatic life from its earliest ancestors. Macfarlane explores the distinction between freshwater and marine distributions, investigating how geological changes and adaptive traits have influenced the colonization of diverse habitats. By synthesizing paleontological evidence with zoological observation, the author offers a detailed perspective on the phylogenetic history of vertebrates.

A foundational text for those interested in ichthyology and evolutionary biology, "The Evolution and Distribution of Fishes" stands as a testament to the early 20th-century efforts to map the complex history of the natural world. It serves as an essential resource for understanding the ecological and evolutionary pressures that have shaped the incredible diversity of fish found today.
