In good condition, with superficial rubbing and wear to exterior, primarily along edges and corners. Hinges remain in good condition and text block remains bound well. Bookplate and small instances of markings at front of book. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce piece by Eliza Burt Gamble (1841-1920), an American writer and intellectual who primarily used historical and religious narratives to examine the role of gender throughout human history, along with evolutionary theory, to argue against the male-dominated patriarchy and supposed inferiority of women of the 19th Century.
