Über diesen Titel:

Inhaltsangabe: For most people who think about such things, Route 66 BEGINS in Chicago and ENDS in Los Angeles. But why did 66 BEGIN in Chicago? And in Chicagoland, why was it placed upon Jackson Boulevard, Adams Street, Ogden Avenue, and Joliet Road? Why did it go on those streets as it made its way out west on that California quest? The answers can be found in Exploring Route 66 in Chicagoland. Travelers can finally learn the history that shaped U.S. 66 in the Windy City area.

Whether you are an armchair tourist, taking a Virtual Tour through the written word...

Whether you are driving through Chicago, wishing to have a petter understanding of the history of the sights along the highway...

or Whether you are wishing to explore Route 66 in Chicago's Loop on foot...

Exploring Route 66 in Chicagoland will help you get the most out of your adventure. So, settle in to your recliner, fasten your seat belt, or tighten your shoelaces--no matter how you take the journey, it starts right now. Let's get our KICKS on Chicago's Route 66!

Über den Autor: David Clark moved to Chicago in 1980, and he and his wife, Carol Krohn, moved onto Route 66 west of the Loop in 1998. Dave has been researching Illinois transportation history with an emphasis on Chicago's Route 66 since a road trip in March 2000 began his family's current obsession with the Mother Road. He has published over two dozen articles about 66 and Chicago. His most recent work includes the books Exploring Route 66 in Chicagoland and Images of America: Route 66 in Chicago from Arcadia Publishing. In addition to his writing and research, Dave conducts walking, driving, and bus tours, presents slide shows and lectures.
