Like many of this author's novels, this one is set in Cape Cod. It was first published by Appleton in 1917, and just because that copyright date is the only date in the book doesn't mean that this copy was published in 1917. In fact, this copy is a fourth printing published by arrangement with Appletons by the inexpensive reprint specialist, A.L. Burt. It is undated. The extremities are a little worn, edges are browned, spine is slightly faded, and there's an inscription (dated 1928) on front endpaper. Still a good to very good copy.
