Large hardcover, red-violet boards with bright yellow cloth spine (possibly the worst color combination ever chosen for binding a book). 10 by 10 inches. 199 pages, well illustrated in black and white and color. Examples from the catalogues from 1926 onward, also a detailed, exhaustive account of "the history of the most extraordinary mail order catalogue ever." Many fascinating anecdotes. Signed on the front free endpaper by the author. On the front endpaper is lightly taped a small gift certificate envelope, in which there is a folded card with Neiman-Marcus embossed on it with this note: "An early Christmas Present. Mr. T." There is also a slip ("This slip must accompany merchandise if returned," ) from store number 1, sent by Mr. Alvin A. Trussell. Jacket is price-clipped and very slightly worn and scuffed. Über diesen Titel

Color illustrations. "Stanley Marcus had done it again. Not only is he a truly great retailer - he's now a great chronicler of retailing. This book on the history of the Neiman-Marcus catalogue should be of interest to all." - Bill Blass. Do people really buy those exotic and expensive sable coats? Yes they do - and Stanley Marcus tells why in this richly anecdotal, illustrated history of the most extraordinary mail order catalogue ever. Profusely illustrated in color and black and white. 200 pages, yellow and purple cloth-backed boards, dust wrapper.
