REPRINTED. LEATHER-BOUND. Closed tear extending 6" down spine from spinecap. Edges and corners lightly worn. Front hinge started. Lightly age-tanned. This Everyman's Library Collector's Edition is bound in supple burgundy leather with rounded corners and top gilt. Gilt lettering and design debossed to spine. Gilt design with the words "Everyman, I will go with thee and be thy guide, in thy most need to go by thy side" debossed to front cover. Thin silk ribbon bookmark. Illustrated endpaper art, in pale yellow, with "RLK 1905" in the lower right corner (Reginald L. Knowles) is heavily based on that of William Morris and his Kelmscott Press, whereas the quote is derived from the medieval play, Everyman. Clean and tight. 457 pp with bibliography, notes and glossary. No. 71 of the Everyman's Library. Set in the early 1600's, this is the story of a young Scottish nobelman, Nigel Olifaunt, Lord Glenvarloch, who travels to London to ask the King to repay his father's loan.
