A very scarce historical poem which was privately printed following its recital at Rugby School. The first and only edition of this work. No records of this poem being held institutionally.The title page states that this poem was recited in Rugby School on March 29th 1837.This prize poem is in Latin, and is based on the Battle of Veii in ancient Rome. The siege or battle of Veii is approximately dated 396 BC. Veii was approximately 10 miles from Rome and an attack on the city was lead by Marcus Furius Camillus the elected dictator.Disbound, as issued.The poem has been initialled'RB'. A prior owner has filled in the name Robert Blayney in a contemporary hand. This could be Robert Blayney, son of T Blayney Esq. the Lodge Evesham. His name is found in the Rugby School Register published in 1881.An extremely scarce historical poem. Disbound. Externally, very smart. A few light marks to the front and rear pages.
