Spiritual paths are rarely a straight line.

Fear Not Mystery is an absorbing memoir describing the author's passage of reconciling her religious upbringing with forging her own spiritual path. The consequence of growing up amidst a strict structural religious environment with the loss of her own spiritual awareness form the backdrop of her search for authenticity and connection.

Aukje Kapteyn shares her insights from her life's work, her immersive experiences in the natural world and the body, which heightened her sense of oneness with all and seeing the Divine in all things. Wise and relatable, the stories of loss and alienation, awe and mystery found in this book reveal the universal experience of inner wisdom, letting go of the illusion of control and surrendering to the grace and freedom of spirit that is our birthright.

Aukje Kapteyn has been a counselling therapist for forty years. Most of those years were spent with First Nations Communities. While her educational achievements form the basis of her work in the world, life is the most profound teacher. She has a Master's degree in Counselling (Pastoral Studies) from St. Paul University in Ottawa, and has completed coursework for the Doctorate of Ministry at St. Stephen's College in Edmonton. Kapteyn has also undertaken a rigorous five-year program in Bioenergetic Analysis and studied numerous other modalities, including Indigenous perspectives on family systems and trauma. She was mentored by the founder of Shalom Mountain Retreat and Study Center and facilitates Shalom retreats. She is the mother of three and grandmother of seven.
