After studying textile design in both the USA and Finland, author Jorie Johnson was introduced to the felt making process in 1977 when she was first taught Scandinavian felt boot-making. She was immediately struck by felt's amazing properties and possibilities. Jorie Johnson enjoys designing, producing and wearing her unique handmade woolen felt creations. After studying industrial textile design (weaving and printing) for fashion and interiors Jorie found her compatible expression in fiber through the traditional medium of felt making. Her combination of rich colors and layering techniques, working various materials such as silk, rayon, and mohair into the felt product, results in one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories for the discerning collector. She resides in Kyoto, Japan.
