Artikelbeschreibung vom Verkäufer

Hardcover, with dust jacket. Bound in dark red cloth over boards, with black lettering to the spine. Red pictorial dust jacket with yellow and black lettering. Dated 1938 on copyright page. No date on title page. 255 pages. Good condition. Binding is strong and square. Foot of the covers is water-stained. A bit of sunning to the spine. Pages are toned. The water stain extends along the foot of the endpapers, and around the edges of the first few pages. Pages toned, but otherwise clean and free of marks. A previous owners name and date written to the half-title page is the only bit of writing I can find. Dust jacket heavily toned and discolored. Head and foot of the spine and corners are chipped. No tears or creases. Spine is sunned. Overall light shelf wear, but good condition. Dust jacket has been wrapped in a protective mylar cover. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term 'biological diversity' to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world. He died in 2021 and we are very excited to present a selection of his books. Please browse the entire catalogue here on ABE or contact us for instructions on how to get to it. Thomas Lovejoy's name is not written in this book. It will come with a card stating provenance, with a picture of Lovejoy. Please email with questions or to see any photos.

We trust them & we hope you will too. If you need tracking, please consider PRIORITY SHIPPING. We ship orders valued at more than $50 in a box, at no additional charge. Priority mailing is for a Flat-Rate envelope, with tracking included. If the book does not fit into a flat rate envelope, we will likely need to request extra shipping costs from you, in order to put it in a box. We only charge the actual amount of shipping, so we hope you'll understand that it's just a matter of getting the book to you without taking a loss on it -- shipping is a service we happily offer without a 'handling' charge.... but we can't afford to charge you less than the cost of the stamps!
