Beckside Books is a long-established 2nd hand and antiquarian bricks-and-mortar bookshop tucked away in a central but quiet part of the historic town of Penrith, N.Cumbria, just 5 minutes from the Lake District national park.
We have a broad but carefully curated selection of books as well as maps, photos and postcards. Our strengths are in Cumbria and the Lake District, The Lake Poets, Mining, Ruskin, Virago, maritime history and Archaeology.
We take pride in the accuracy of our descriptions and will always err on the side of caution to ensure certainty of your satisfaction. We recycle old packaging wherever possible and will ensure items are very well packed so they arrive with you in EXACTLY the same condition as they leave us.

We aim to post out all our items within 1 working day of the order being received.
Most items are posted using Royal Mail 2nd class post. Bulkier items will be posted using a courier to reduce costs.
In general, postage insurance is not automatically purchased on items under £150 in order to keep the cost down. Please get in contact if this is an issue.
We recycle old packaging where possible but wil always ensure that your parcel is very well packaged so it arrives in the exact same condition that it leaves us in.
