A wonderful and inspiring memoir of a devout woman seeking meaning for years of chronic pain, and searching for inner peace as she pursues the presence of God in her daily life. Her honest conversations with God and her inner vocal critic, lead her to a community of Camaldolese Benedictine monks living along the California coast. Their gentle and loving nature, their willingness to listen and share encouraging words with Lois, help her to move down the path and find her way home. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a closer and more personal relationship with God in the midst of physical and spiritual struggles. This book would also be of value to those who care for the terminally ill.
Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Lois Ellen Olson was born in 1941, and over the course of her life she became a serious student of history, literature, language, and writing. From an early age, she began recording her thoughts in personal diaries and kept journals up to the time of her death in 2014. She read profusely, up to seventy-five to eighty books a year, and wrote reviews on most of what she read. Lois had a passion to create. She was an artist, excelling in oil portraits, needlework, cross-stitch, and embroidery projects, and professionally proficient in creating art quilts. She had a deep love of language and could read and write biblical Hebrew and Greek, and was well versed in Latin. In 1980, she published her first book, “Meeting Him in the Wilderness: A True Story of Adventure & Faith" with Doubleday & Co. Her second book was “The Secret of Stonewall Farm: A Mystery Novel,” published for younger readers in 2015. Now, this book, “Finding My Way Home,” a memoir of her suffering and faith, is published three years after her death from bone and breast cancer.
