Book 2 of the Enchanted Mountains Series

A nostalgic coming-of-age story about first love, found family, and the summer that changes everything. It's the summer of 1999, and sixteen-year-old Jonie Kirkland can't believe her luck. A job at Twin Pines State Park's swimming pool means long sunny days, new friendships, and freedom she never knew she needed.

For the first time in her life, she feels like she truly belongs.

Between lazy afternoons at the pool, laughter with her coworkers, and a sweet, awkward romance with Brandon Murphy, Jonie is certain this will be the best summer she's ever had. But growing up has a way of bringing heartbreak when it's least expected, and before summer's end, she'll discover that some losses change you forever.

Watching it all unfold is Alice Livingston, the quiet woman who has managed the Twin Pines pool for decades. While Jonie sees only another summer season, Alice knows that certain moments can shape an entire life.

Set against the backdrop of a simpler time—before smartphones, social media, and constant connection—That First Summer: Part One is a heartfelt coming-of-age story filled with first love, lasting friendships, found family, and the unforgettable magic of being sixteen in a place that feels like home.

Perfect for readers who love nostalgic summer stories, emotional women's fiction, and character-driven novels that linger long after the final page.
