Early hardcover reprint. Not dated on the title page, but has on the copyright page "Copyright, 1916,". Original publisher's blue cloth with white lettering front cover & spine. This is a nice example of the very uncommon "School Edition" part of the publisher's "Out-Of-Door Library" series. This edition has exactly the same contents and the 1916 Sierra Edition (and manuscript edition) but is smaller format paper though pages appear to have been printed using the same plates ( the blank margins are smaller here but the text size and spacing is the same). The folding map at the rear is the same as the 1916 Sierra edition's map. It is in fine condition but has two tiny tears at the stub. The book measures 197mm tall x 130mm, and has 271 + [1] pages, b/w frontispiece photo + 7 b/w photo plates, 21 b/w sketch by Muir, b/w folding map placed before index.
