Original printed wraps 22x28cm. 23pp, illustrated with b/w photos and charts throughout. Very good, with some marks to the front. Major F.J. Steven was Commanding Officer and Chief Flying Instructor of the Canadian Armed Forces' Flying Boat School at Comox in British Columbia. This publication, issued by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, was originally serialsed in 4 issues of Shell Aviation News. Steven reviews the handling of marine aircraft with particular reference to amphibious operation, noting aspects of airmanship needed for Search and Rescue. Grumman had a direct interest, because the Boat School used Grumman's SA16 Albatross triphibians for water, land and ski work: "Its crews routinely undertake rescue missions under all conditions of season and weather. The skills described are thus derived from the hardest possible experience". Undated, but the code on the back, 11662, suggests 1962, consistent with the CAF using 10 SA16s in the 1960s.
