She studied at London University and the College of Law and has practised in the Home Counties and Cornwall as a solicitor. She now lives in London. She chose the crime novel out of professional interest and a lifelong addiction to the genre. Her lawyer-sleuth Lennox Kemp has appeared in all of her ten published novels; readers - especially those in the United States of America - seem to like him for his sometimes ironic view of the profession.
