5 1/2" x 8", 29 pp. + 2 [ads]. First Edition. Whitman code W.703 to front board. No date, copyright 1927. A brilliantly colorful storybook with story by Thorton W. Burgess and exceptional color illustrations by Harrison Cady. Paper-covered boards with wonderful wraparound illustration by Cady. Printed on stiff, card-like paper, making the illustrations quite sharp and the leaves bright and fresh. The one flaw in the design of the book was a ridiculously flimsy way of attaching the boards to the text block. Thus, we have an absolutely Fine copy in every way - very clean and bright, no wear - but the text block is free: 3 small holes in the thin paper backing the boards where the 3 staples pulled through.
