A scarce limited edition work on the history and members of the Grillion's dining club. A very scarce work.Limited edition, limited to two hundred unnumbered copies.This work looks at the history of Grillion's, a dining club founded by Stratford Canning in 1813.Canning founded the club to provide a place for men to meet, free from the violence of political controversy. They originally met at Grillion's Hotel on Albemarle Street, before moving to the Hotel Cecil.This work includes a list of the members and secretaries of the club from its inception up to 1913. Members at the time this work was published included the current Prime Minister Herbert Henry Asquith and former Prime Minister Arthur Balfour. In the original publisher's half vellum binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light discolouration and marks to the vellum, as is usual to see. Spine is discoloured.
