Men and women lay ministers are often deputed as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion to assist priests and deacons with the smooth distribution of Holy Communion at Mass and to bring Holy Communion to those who are sick and homebound. This second edition provides updated pastoral commentary in light of the third edition of The Roman Missal. Veteran ministers or newly deputed ministers will be given the tools needed to effectively serve during the liturgy and appreciate more deeply their liturgical roles. This book includes: A basic theological and historical overview of this ministry, Resources for formation and the deepening of ministerial spirituality, Questions for discussion and reflection, Generous quotations from current Church documents, liturgical rubrics, and Scripture, Instructive photos, images, and text boxes.
