Beschreibung
Second edition hardback, published in Madras 1943. Red boards, with bright gilt titling to the spine, the corners are lightly 'bumped/rubbed', and there is a little light fading to the top and bottom of the spine. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. The dustjacket is not price clipped, but is chipped/torn to the edges and has lost about 1.5 inches to the bottom of the spine. The small tears have now been neatly repaired to the reverse, with some blue colouring toning in to improve the rubbed areas, and the dustjacket is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks much better. See Images. In overall good plus condition - Binding tight, no annotations, marks, or inscriptions. Page fore-edges lightly browned/'dusty' with a few age-spots, but text and illustrations (by the author) are Very Clean and clear throughout. (xiv) + 239 pages, and a glossary. Illustrated with a black and white sketch 'Head of Burmese Man' as the frontispiece, a map and 7 other drawings in the text all by the author. "An Arcadia invaded by wars and rumours of wars, Burma, with the building of the Burma Road, has been caught in the main stream of world events. Guns through Arcady gives an illuminating picture of Burma as a whole and "The Shan States" in particular; it describes the colossal task undertaken in the Burma Road, and makes clear what this highway must mean to Burma." . Overall a Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy in the original dustjacket - with a little loss to the lower spine of the dustjacket only. See Images. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
