Stereotype edition. 12mo. viii, 192pp. Engraved frontispiece and eight other engravings, includes a fantastic plate of a jousting tournament (opp. p.65). Quarter red calf over marbled boards, with printed title and author label to front board; internally mostly clean with just a little browning and offsetting from the plates; a very good copy. Inscription on front free endpaper from C.H. Knight of Preston Bagot 1855 "To Frances, Lucy, Henrietta, and Katharine his four little historians with his affectionate love." The four little historians used the book for their studies as there are contemporary pencil notes, specifically it seems to remember key dates. As of 26 July 2017, there is only one copy listed on COPAC at Liverpool University, but with a later date 1823. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9478
