EARLY EDITION 1791 of the abridgement by Richard Johnson of the original 3 volume work. 160 x 95 mm, 6¼ x 3½ inches, quarter brown roan, marbled boards, no lettering or label, 107 pages, frontispiece and 5 copperplate engravings. Boards and spine very worn, hinges cracked, stitching slightly slack. Couple of small margin tears, 1 page has a couple of tiny ink marks, early names on front endpaper and reverse of frontispiece, occasional light soiling, small piece torn off corner of last leaf (no loss). Acceptable working copy. First published in abridged form by J. Wallis of 16 Ludgate-Street in 1790, Roscoe J92(1) is a second edition (not before 1794) published by Wallis and Newbery.
