Nicley done-up reproduction of the original 1879 edition in maroon leatherette with spine and front panel lettering and decoration, octavo, pp. 375 plus ads. Laid in is a Cookbook Collectors Library promotional brochure. Condition is Very Good with light shelf wear at spine ends and board tips. This curious edition would appear to be an abridgement of a separate Favorite Recipes Press reproduction of the same title with 528 pages (see our AbeBooks listing with inventory number 22578 for that edition). Nothing is missing from this copy, which compared with the longer edition begins with the same title page and matching topic pagination, but the later pages in the two volumes do not match. Therefore, we suspect an abridgement. However, there was also the long-ago phenomenon of Salesman's Dummies of books that were used to attract potential buyers on the promise of fuller volumes, though this 375 page sample would seem almost too large for such a sales technique.
