Inhaltsangabe: The Spencer State Hospital at Spencer, West Virginia was completed in 1893 to relieve the crowded conditions at the Weston State Hospital. It served its purpose as an insane asylum for almost a century until it was closed down in 1989. As with institutions of this type, it is embellished with a dark history. In this book, the author relates several tales which were told to him by former employees and local citizens about strange happenings at the facility. But, in 1992, the author did his own exploration of the facility. What he experienced inside the dark, creepy lunatic asylum convinced him that there might be a lot of truth to the rumors, and he feels lucky to have made it out alive. A huge retail store now stands on the spot where the long gone mental hospital once stood. Some believe that the ghosts of its former patients will continue to haunt the hallowed ground for an eternity.
