## Highways & Byways in NORMANDY 1924. by Percy Dearmer Pocket Size Book leather Bound# # ## PLEASE NOTE: This is an original.NOT reprinted ## ## THIS BOOK: This is the 1924 edition classified as VERY GOOD and first published in 1900; the second edition reprinted in 1904 and 1910, and the first pocket edition in 1924?the binding is brown leather with gilded titling and an embossed curtain with the Illustrators name gilded. The book is in good order, with minor bumping to the top and bottom of the spine and along the binding edges. A small repair to the front endpapers had been carried out. The text pages are clean and clear throughout. All the illustrations are as you would expect from Joseph Pennell, well drawn and finely detailed. Surprisingly, the map is intact, and I am guessing it hasn't been used much, if at all. A real find and quite rare. ## ## Percival "Percy" Dearmer was an English priest and liturgist best known as the author of The Parson's Handbook, a liturgical manual for Anglican clergy. A lifelong socialist, he was an early advocate of the public ministry of women (but not their ordination to the priesthood) and concerned with social justice. Dearmer also strongly influenced the church's music and, with Ralph Vaughan Williams and Martin Shaw, is credited with the revival and spread of traditional and medieval English musical forms. ## ## The author takes you to all corners of Normandy, from villages by the coast to small villages in the rural area, fewer in the days of 1924.
