The second edition after the original of 1700. Two volumes, royal octavo (25 x 16cm). Vol. I, pp. xx,592; Vol. II, pp. [ii],613,[1]. With a frontispiece portrait, folding map (with a neat hinge repair) & 45 further plates, mostly double-paged of seats, all in lithography. Some foxing to the plates and particularly first title and frontis. An excellent copy bound in slightly later 19th C half calf with contrasting twin labels, gilt, the boards, endpapers & edges marbled. The folding map, based on Moll's map of 1700, is noted by Hodson as the first lithographically printed map of the county. With the engraved bookplate of Herbert John Gladstone, Home Secretary 1905-10, political colleague of Winston Churchill. and son of Prime Minister William Gladstone. Vg.
