Extra-illustrated with 174 fine plates many on stiff card, thirteen in colour, several folding; frontis, title vignette. Large octavo (22.5 cm) in original polished tan calf, rich gilt titles and decorations to six panel spines, five raised bands, narrow ruled gilt decoration to covers, t.e.g.; marbled endpapers with fancy gilt borders. Hinges skilfully repaired, chipped spine label. Otherwise a near fine copy of the book published in observance of the Abbey s 800th anniversary. A deluxe copy indeed.
