An History of the Corruptions of Christianity in Two Volumes by Joseph Priestly, Printed by William Spotswood, Boston, 1797, half leather, 7.25 x 4.25 , 12mo. In fair condition. Volume I has a nearly detached front board with moderate wear to extremities. Scuffing and dryness to leather with abraded spine and missing label. Front fly leaf is detached and chipped at edge. Interior lightly toned, free of known markings. Age stain and foxing throughout. Binding intact. Volume II has a detached front board. Scuffing and dryness to leather with abraded spine. Joesph Priestly (1733-1804) was a major figure of the British Enlightenment, a theologian, natural philosopher, and a notable polymath. He published more than 150 books, pamphlet and b papers and primarily remembered for his isolation of seven gases, including oxygen.
