Hardcover. Zustand: Poor. First Edition. A two volume rebinding set in contemporary half calf with marbled boards. Gilt lettering and decoration to both spines. Both volumes are very well worn to all parts with the upper board of the second volume loose. Marbled endpapers have a small owner label of M. Tallentier, St. Mary Holme and verso of volume 1 has ink inscripton dated 1896. Text in very good condition, but for a little staining, and well bound. The rear of volume 2 has additions, list of Constablewicks and Sheriffs plus Subscribres Names and List of Plates before the index. Both engraved title pages are present as is the frontispiece to volume 1. Large folding map of Cumberland has been torn away and has many tears and creases plus soiling. The folding plan of Workington is very good and the folding plan of Carlisle has a tear and some creasing to the edges but is otherwise very good. The large number of plates have not been checked in full but it is apparent the frontispiece of volume 2 and the large sheet plan of Whitehaven are not present. We would be happy to check further.
