Bound without half titles.This work is regarded as the author's major work and had a huge commercial success, seeing its translation into numerous languages; it is considered to be the first English language scholarly study of the French Revolution.Written by Sir Archibald Alison, 1st Baronet, Scottish advocate and historian. Rebound in half calf bindings over marbled boards, titles in gilt to morocco spine label. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. The book is Very Good overall, with straight spine, sharp corners and firm spine ends, with rubbing to the spine. I would guess from the binding it has been rebound, but I don't know for certain.
