The second edition of this work, revised and enlarged.In the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.Richly illustrated with photographs and engravings, of which are contained in over three hundred monochrome plates.beginning with the history of the camera obscura before discussing discoveries of optical and chemical phenomena. Gernsheim then covers an array of major historical developments and the pioneers behind them, such as Nicephore Nieoce's first attempts at photography, the use of daguerreotype across the world, the collodion period, the first woman press photographer and much more. In the original cloth binding. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. With minor discolouration to parts of the cloth and little shelf wear. Dust wrapper is also very smart, with minor edge wear and light marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean save for a couple marks to the endpapers. Near Fine.
