Beschreibung
Spine sunned. Top and fore edge foxed. Verso of frontispiece foxed. Front and rear flyleaves yellowing. Laid in is a Notice from the translator stating that due to "the political conditions arising in Europe," the publisher disavowed sponsorship of the book. He goes on to list his reasons for proceeding with the publication. Stenger was the inventor of the darkroom lamp with liquid filters (1905) and the photographic copying process by chemical gradation (1922). He collected photographs and testimonies from the cultural history of photography. His photo collection was later considered to be the largest private photo collection in the world.
