Inhaltsangabe: In Hitler’s Rockets Norman Longmate tells the story of the V-2, the technically brilliant but hated weapon, the ancestor and forerunner of all subsequent ballistic missiles. He reveals the devious power-play within the German armed forces and the Nazi establishment that so influenced the creation of the rockets. He shows through contemporary documents and protagonists’ accounts how the British intelligence skillfully pieced together often contradictory evidence as it sought to establish the true nature of the threat. Finally he recalls in detail the feel and fears of the time from the viewpoint of those who suffered, and those who were all too conscious tat they were the target.
About the Author:
Norman Longmate was born at Newbury and educated at both Christ’s Hospital and Oxford. He worked in Fleet Street and for BBC, and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He lives in England.

Britain was the first country ever to suffer a ballistic missile attack from beyond its borders. Between the first V-2 which landed in Chiswick on 8th September, 1944 and the final rocket on 27th March 1945, more than a thousand landed on British soil - killing nearly 3000 people and injuring more than 6000. This is the story of this deadly weapon and its development. A very good copy showing some shelfwear and minor edgewear. Jacket has some slight fading and is price-clipped but very good still.
