Uncolored engraving in good to very good condition. Light soiling and staining in margins, with one area of heavier water stain at top center, much lighter in printed area. This is an image of George Washington and family, with the Marquis de Lafayette, on the front porch of Mount Vernon. Washington and Lafayette stand by a pillar on the porch, Lafayette holding a copy of the Pennsylvania gazette in his hand. Martha Washington is seen sewing at a table while her daughter-in-law also sits and is seen reading a letter. The Washington's granddaughter, Eleanor, is seen resting her head on Martha's lap. Seen at left, in the yard, George W.P. Custis is seen with an African American woman, lighting a toy cannon, while two dogs watch.
