Our books were owned by William Watson Goodwin who was an American classical scholar, for many years Eliot professor of Greek at Harvard University. He was a tutor in Greek at Harvard in 1856-1860, and Eliot professor of Greek there from 1860 until his resignation in 1901. In 1882-1883 Goodwin was the first director of the American School for Classic Studies in Athens.
