Hood to promote their patent medicine, Hood's Sarsaparilla. Features testimonials as to its effectiveness in curing a variety of maladies, as well as a few humorous anecdotes. Rear page features four illustrations combining the macabre humor of Edward Gorey with the life lessons of Struwwelpeter. Captioned "Those Who Didn't Know," the illustrations depict a boy blowing an old woman's head off with a gun because he didn't know it was loaded; a woman blown up because she didn't know kerosene was explosive; a man blown to bits because he didn't know it was dangerous to sit on a can of powder and smoke; and, a boy with a finger cut off by moving machinery. GOOD condition. Fold crease, with other moderate to heavy creasing and wrinkling. Several chips and tears along the extremities. General toning. Minor spotting and soiling.
