Hound & Horn, v. 7, no. 3, April-June, 1934. Henry James Issue 362-562 pages. This is a very special edition of this prestigious literary magazine as it is the "Henry James" special. The covers are shelf worn and a bit grubby but the binding fairly tight and the pages are unmarked and in good condition. Tear off subscription insert is still intact. Hound & Horn, originally subtitled "a Harvard Miscellany", was a literary quarterly founded by Harvard undergrads Lincoln Kirstein and Varian Fry in 1927. Later on the publication (as in this one) included many modern writers. One of the two never before published letters was James writing to William Heinemann, the famous London publisher. Also "The Ambassadors, project of a novel" was previously unpublished. It is James' explanation of his well-known book. In 1930, the magazine moved headquarters to New York but publication stopped in 1934 when Kirstein decided to fund George Balanchine and his newly established School of American Ballet.
