Inhaltsangabe: A personal and satisfying Alaskan hunting book. Hunters hoping to, or dreaming of, hunting the "Great Land" will discover, probably for the first time, exactly how it is done, how it feels, and what they can hope for if they make it into the Alaskan wilderness. Written by a hunter whose Alaskan travels span half a century - an author/hunter who does not pull punches or gloss over, a writer who has been there and has done all that he describes. Included are more than 190 photographs, taken over decades, that prove the writing real and the experiences powerful.
Über den Autor: Roy Chandler has spent a lifetime gaining the experiences a man of his era believed important. He describes himself (as is already in place on his gravestone) as an Author, Educator, Soldier and Patriot. He should add Adventurer because that is what he really has been. As a writer, he has had more than sixty books published. As an educator, he held, among other positions, Head Teacher of the Birch School in the Fairbanks North Star School System. A soldier? He served twenty years in the US Army. Patriotism is a part of military service, of course, and the author served in the Pacific during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Roy Chandler (most call him "Rocky" because he lived on Alcatraz Island for four youthful years) rides Harley-Davidsons as most men drive their pickups. Adventuring? He is still at it, and... just keeps going.
