Established as a mail-order dealer in 1975, The Jumping Frog opened its first store in Hartford in 1983. Following three relocations in Hartford, our store has resided at Arbor Arts Center, 56 Arbor Street, Hartford, for more than twenty years. Located about one mile from Mark Twain?s Hartford home, now a museum dedicated to his life & work, The Jumping Frog is named for Mark Twain?s first published work, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.
Our in-store stock includes Connecticut history, books about books, children?s books, art, architecture, photography, first editions, autographed books, transportation, music & dance, literature, and, naturally, books by and about Mark Twain. Our store stock is not listed anywhere and visits by appointment are invited.
The items offered on AbeBooks are catalogued for on-line viewing & purchase; they are not browsable at our Hartford store. We have been selling ephemera on-line since 1998 and continue to add to our listings, now exceeding 165,000.

Shipping to any United States address is $4.44 for any order regardless of quantity of items. Insurance provided gratis by us for orders over $100.00. Items are typically sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard and mailed flat. Some items rolled in a tube if we think that is safer than flat or the size exceeds practical limits of flat shipping. All items shipped with tracking via USPS First Class or Media Mail. Please inquire with specific items wanted and your full mailing address if outside USA.
