Spine is decorated with 4 raised bands, gilt writing and gilt lines each side of the bands. Spine is worn at the top and bottom, and the joints are very worn and cracked. Front paste down and front free end papers are inscribed. Hinge just after the front free end paper is cracked. Nice frontispiece of Geoffrey Chaucer. Title page is foxed, and there is offsetting from the frontispiece. Text is bright and pages are clean, some writing in the margins and pencil underlining. Nice copy. Condition Report Externally Spine fair condition worn towards the top and bottom, and the joints are cracked. Joints poor condition worn, badly cracked to the front. Corners fair condition worn and bumped. Boards fair condition marked and fading. Page edges fair condition. See above and photos. Internally Hinges fair condition cracked front and rear hinge. Front paste down fair condition. Front page end fair condition. Title fair condition foxed, and has offset from the frontispiece. Pages  fair condition. Binding  fair condition, solid.
