Edited by (Sir) Pelham Warner though the hand of the noted F S Ashley-Cooper was a major known guiding element, indeed as expressed by the editor in his Note. Dedicated as it was to the King, the book is a summary of cricket's role across the then imperial world, its history in different parts. The chapter on the history of cricket was contributed by Andrew Lang, Lord Harris was responsible for "Evolutions" in which he looked at dress, technique and grounds. See an accompanying image for the Contents page. This copy is number 277 of the Subscribers' Edition of 900, the space for the subscriber's name is unfilled. There are a few marks on the red morocco covers, the most noticeable being at top of the spine and along the vertical edge between spine and rear cover. Internally: a binding split between two of the fly leaves and a slight tear at the top of the first fly leaf; a couple of small marks on pages 78 and 79; the occasional tiny mark and a small number of very slightly foxed areas.
