Hardback. Zustand: Very Good. Ninth edition. 1937. Ninth edition. ix, 414pp., 28 maps (many folding), and a loosely inserted 16-page staple-bound booklet of amendments and additions to this edition. This book was first published in 1924 under the title 'Elementary Imperial Military Geography', and was substantially revised and enlarged in later editions. The primary aim is to describe, in their geographical setting, the defence problems of the British Empire; its secondary aim is to give a brief but adequate outline of the forces immediately available to bear the initial burden of these responsibilities, and also to take stock of the resources in man power and material which might be mobilized for National or Imperial needs. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some light soiling to the boards. The spine is faded with rubbing down the rear spine edge and the spine ends are lightly bumped. The contents are tight and clean with a name written on the front free endpaper. There is partial splitting to the rear endpapers down the spine gutter where the booklet of amendments has been loosely inserted.
