Completed for the Tokyo Olympics, the hotel is "one huge museum of Japanese classical arts. . The present volume . is an attempt to interpret to you our concept of hospitality through a generous use of patterns indigenous to Japan on numerous surfaces and fixtures throughout the hotel. It will also illustrate how some ancient expressions of beauty have been successfully translated into a modern architectural reality" -- from the foreword by Iwajiro Noda. The artist Shigeoka (1895-1988) is probably best known for the murals he did at Frank Lloyd Wright's Imperial Hotel. He was also a kabuki set designer.Condition: Very good and sound, covers lightly sunned, more so at spine. Size: Quarto. Text is in multiple languages. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
