Paperspresentedattheconferencestronglyreflectedtheconferencetheme. Of165 paperssubmitted,99werepresentedattheconference,representinganacceptancerateofapproximately 60%. Allpaperswerepeerreviewedby3or4referees(atotalof543reviewreportsweresubmitted, correspondingtoanaverageof3. 29reviewsperpaper). Thebookisorganisedbyorderoftheconference sessions. Whileallthepresentedpaperswereofhighquality,wehaveselectedtwoofthemtosharetheBest Paper Award. The first one is "Modeling the contribution of enterprise architecture practice to the achievementofbusinessgoals"byMarliesvanSteenbergenandSjaakBrinkkemper. Thesecondoneis "Whycan'twebetonISDOutcomes?:ISD'Form'asaPredictorofSuccess"byMikeNewman,ShanL PanandGaryPan. Furthermore,toacknowledgethequalityofthereviewshecompleted,thequality ofthepaperhesubmitted,hisroleasatrackandsessionchair,andhisgeneralparticipationinthe conference,wehaveawardedanOverallContributionAwardtoMichaelLangoftheNationalUniversity of Ireland, Galway. Information Systems Development: Towards a Service Provision Society is the collected proceedings of the Seventeenth International Conference on Information Systems Development: Towards a Service Provision Society ISD 2008 Conference, held in Paphos, Cyprus. It follows in the tradition of previous conferences in the series in exploring the connections between industry, research and education.
