Contemporary vellum, with bowing and splitting of paste-downs. . Manuscript paste-downs with early writing visible on underside. Some browning and foxing, several ink ex-libris on title-page of the Bellarmine. Text-block sound The Bellarmine is his Hebrew grammar, which seems to follow more or less the twentieth-century textbook I used. The second work is a very basic introduction to Syriac, with comparisons with Hebrew script and some elementary grammar. and Syriac versions of some sample texts, with interlinear Latin translation. The second work is the second edition, amended. The work is supposed to be used with a collection of Hebrew roots, shared by Syriac and Aramaic. According to the author, Jesus first language was Syriac, but Syriac is itself Aramaic, and appears to refer to a script. The one Aramic word in the New Testament, abba is equally Aramiac and Syriac.
