Octavo. 258 pages. Hardcover bound in mid-20th century full red leather with gilt titles on the spine. Light wear to the binding. The binding is fresh and clean and has the appearance of a library type binding but it is not an ex-library copy. Endpapers contemporary with the binding, yet there are also some blank endpapers original to the book. One of these has some erased pencil notations. The text block is sound, and the text is exceptionally clean. We see one leaf (pages 71-72) which have some paper repairs. The paper in one gathering in the center is a bit toned. Wide margins. Text is in French. Originally published in 1787, both that and this edition are quite rare. Not illustrated; no maps called for. A very rare pilot guide for Saint Dominique (later Haiti).
