Über diesen Titel:
Originally published between 1890 and 1915, the series was devised and edited by William Torrey Harris (1835Ð1909), United States Commissioner of Education. Harris wrote on philosophy, and in particular Hegel and Hegelianism, as well as being a prominent educationalist. He was an active public lecturer, leader of the St Louis movement, editor of Webster's Dictionary and of America's first regular journal devoted to philosophy ( The Journal of Speculative Philosophy, 1867Ð93), and author of some 500 articles. For this important series, Harris provided introductions, analyses and commentaries to the individual volumes.
The first collection in the series, History of Education, focuses on the biographies of the most remarkable European and American educational innovators and reformers through the ages. Together with the historical and polemical works, this set provides a clear picture of the lessons that were to be learned about providing a good education in the twentieth century.
--includes now rare volumes from the turn of the century series, International Education
--early twentieth-century ideas on the practice and aims of education
--most important classic American series on education made available together for the first time
