This book is primarily written for students of nursing and is relevant to all branches of Project 2000. The book covers some of the key issues in public health and epidemiology which are relevant to nursing. The chapters are written in a study guide format, and each poses a series of questions and exercises which the reader is encouraged to think about and work through. The aim is to introduce the reader to some of the key concepts in public health and epidemiology in a way which stimulates them to think through many of the issues for themselves. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Nigel Unwin trained in hospital and public health medicine. He is currently a senior lecturer in epidemiology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, working on a wide variety of epidemiological studies in Britain and abroad, and lecturing to pre and post graduate medical students.

Susan Carr has worked as health visitor and community practice teacher. She is currently a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Health, Social Work and Education, University of Northumbria focusing on community and public health issues on courses for a variety of pre and post registration nursing students.

Joyce Leeson recently retired from a distinguished career as Director of Public Health in North Manchester. Before this she spent many years as a senior lecturer in the Department of Public Health at the University of Manchester, and also worked in research at the University of Zambia.
