Inhaltsangabe: Investigating Diversity: Race, Ethnicity, and Beyond provides a multi- and inter-disciplinary account of race and ethnic diversity in the United States. Studies on Trinidad and Canada are offered for comparison. With the needs of undergraduate students in mind, the short chapters are written in an accessible style. Yet this volume remains scholarly and intriguing to professors of sociology and diversity studies. Unlike many other books for students that reproduce previously published materials, these chapters are originally written for this volume. The volume includes rich and varied examples to amplify the concepts and formation of racial and ethnic identities. Up-to-date case-studies illustrate the challenges faced in multicultural societies, including immigration, gender, class, and policies and practices that intersect with race and ethnicity. The concluding section of the volume offers a unique chapter on the culture of children to highlight the issues of diversity in any given society that go beyond race and ethnicity. Investigating Diversity is an ideal reader for a wide range of courses that prepare students to explore diversity.
