Invoke The Pretas

The cremation ground is not a place of fear. It is a classroom.

For a practitioner standing at the edge of the smashana at the hour before dawn, the world resolves into something simpler than it appears by daylight. The pyre burns. The smoke rises. The boundary between what is living and what has passed becomes, in that moment, a membrane rather than a wall. The Pretavahana Tantra — the Shaiva science of spirit invocation — is the systematic study of what lies on the other side of that membrane, and the methods by which a prepared practitioner may work across it with clarity and without harm.

Invoke the Pretas is a practitioner's manual in the full sense of that word. It is sourced from the classical Agamic tradition, from the living Nath-Siddha lineage, and from direct field research conducted at sacred sites across India. It presents the complete doctrine, method, and protective framework of preta-vidya — the ancient Hindu science of spirit contact — for the serious student who approaches this work with the preparation it requires.

What this book contains:

• The complete Shaiva doctrine of the five bodies and the kama-loka — what a preta actually is, how it comes to exist, and what it experiences in the period following physical death
• A thirty-category taxonomy of spirit beings drawn from classical sources, distinguishing pretas, bhutas, vetalas, pisachas, and the full range of entities encountered in smashana and invocation work
• The group invocation method (mandal sadhana) and the solo invocation methods in full procedural detail — space preparation, yantra installation, the Bhairava invocation sequence, the trataka phase, reception, and dismissal
• Seven complete mantras for this work, sourced from the Mantramahodadhi of Mahidhara (16th century) and the Nath-Siddha Shabar tradition — presented in Devanagari, IAST transliteration, word-by-word meaning, japa counts, timing, and usage instructions
• The Kala Bhairava mula mantra and Kshetrapala establishment sequence for six-directional protection
• The Smasana Kali invocation for attachment resolution when standard Bhairava protocol is insufficient
• Shabar mantras from the Nath-Siddha living tradition for Vetala protection and Preta Tarpana
• A complete chapter on what goes wrong — misidentification, parasitic attachment, practitioner error — and the countermeasures for each category
• The ethics of preta-work as understood within the Shaiva tradition, including what this practice asks of the practitioner's daily conduct

This is not a book for curiosity.

The Aghori tradition, the Nath Siddha lineage, and the classical Shaiva Agamas are in agreement on this point: contact with the spirit world without adequate preparation and protection is not merely ineffective — it is actively harmful. This book does not soften that assessment. The preparation chapter is not preliminary material. It is the core of the work. A practitioner who has built the Bhairava kavach through consistent sadhana, who understands the taxonomy of what they may encounter, and who approaches each session within the ethical framework transmitted here operates from a position of genuine authority. One who does not is simply unprotected.

The author writes from within a living Siddha lineage and from decades of field research at smashanas, pilgrimage sites, and lineage centers across India — including Varanasi, Trimbakeshwar, Tarapith, and the Himalayan regions. The mantras given here are received and verified through practice. The methods are drawn from texts and teachers. The warnings are drawn from observation of what happens when the methods are not followed.

If you are approaching this work with the seriousness it deserves, this book will give you what you need to begin.
